Ninth Training
Date: 1st June 2018, Friday
Time: 10:30 - 14:30
Route: Yat Tung - Tung Chung - Yat Tung
Distance: 30 km
This was our first training in Tung Chung. We gathered earlier and ate breakfast together as this training would be a bit of a push both mentally and physically. We, then, began practice at 10:30 on this very hot day.
Upon reaching Tung Chung, the route was quite challenging with up and downhills which were very steep and curvy. There was a certain hill, that was the toughest and the first time we rode up this hill, we could not make it to the top despite changing the gears of our cycles. So we decided not to give up and all of us rode back down and tried cycling uphill again, with a much better performance than the first time. Due to the curvy route, while going uphill and downhill, some members were injured but first aid was provided instantly and the matter was handled well.
As this training was quite physically demanding and exhausting, the training ended earlier than expected. What we took away from this training is that all of us had to train harder to conquer those steep hills, which would increase our endurance while riding longer distances, which will be very useful in Taiwan.
