Project Plan

Project Title:
Introduction:
Aims:
Objectives:
The 6th Boot Camp Fly - Cycling Tour de Taiwan 2018
This activity, supported by the Division of Business, UOW College Hong Kong, is a student led and managed adventure served to enrich quality campus life and enable whole person development. The total of 17 students along with the coach will be joining this 2018 Boot Camp Fly – Tour de Taiwan from 2nd July to 9th July, 2018, with a theme of “Pacific Challenge”.
The AIM of this project, open to ALL ABAA students from UOW College Hong Kong, has been consistent over the last 5 years to cultivate and motivate students to be proactive, by being both goals and process oriented, in applying classroom knowledge and learning soft skills.  We hope these challenges make good students better. Interest this year has been keen from both Year 1 and 2 students, which allow them in achieving the intended outcome in a wider and deeper manner.
Upon the completion of this project, participants should be able to:
1.    Overcome different physical obstacles and challenges
2. Understand personal strengths and weaknesses, and areas of development
3.    Break their habits and grow mentally
4. Apply classroom knowledge in budgeting, project management, communication, and problem solving

The above learning outcomes can be encapsulated through the following pre-trip, field trip and post-trip activities:

Through completing the cycling challenge, students can achieve the outcome where they can learn how to overcome this challenge, despite not being competent in cycling prior to this Boot Camp. Participants would have to push beyond their physical abilities through training.

Along with physically challenging themselves, participants would have to mentally grow, learn and improve in terms of planning and organizing this challenge. To do so, participants assume various roles either as leaders or followers, where one can apply knowledge acquired regarding managing a project, working as a team and problem solving.

Additional comments, if any:
1. This is the 6th year this activity has been organised, with improving features and consistent quality.

2. Enrolment for this year is keen, the number of participants sponsored is 17 whilst effort will be made to secure funding from other sources.
3. Flight cost has always been expensive and with increased cost in Taiwan, it is hoped that sponsorship for each person could remain at $1800 if not more.

4. We will carry the NEW flag of this institution in this adventure.
5. Planned activities are subject to changes due to early stage of preparation.
