Fourth Training
Date: 15th April 2018, Sunday
Time: 09:00 – 12:00
Route: Tai Shui Hang - Tai Po - Tai Shui Hang
Distance: 10 km
Our goal for today’s training was to apply the fundamental cycling techniques that we have been practicing for the past few training in the rain. Surely, it wasn’t an easy training session. The purpose of training in the rain is to familiarize our Boot Camp Fly team mates to cycle in the rain. Since the weather condition can be unpredictable at times during our Cycling Challenge. We believe it is essential for us to adapt to changing weather condition or at least not be surprised by the rain throughout the challenge in Taiwan.
Beside cycling in the rain, we were also introduced to the proper way to handle corners while making tight left and right turns. For cornering in turns, it was suggested that we need to be aware of our limb coordination corresponding to the direction of the turn and leveling foot on the pedal to an appropriate height when making turns to distribute our weight.
Also, since we were cycling in rain, it was emphasized by our training leader that we should learn to properly pace ourselves with our team mates ahead of us. The track will be wet and there will be a high risk of skidding and crashing into each other. We got to practice braking and controlling gears in order to control our speed of cycling and maintaining distance between each other.
Though the training distance traveled during the training session were cut-short due the heavy rain, the training session was fruitful, as we got to experience cycling during rainy weather and learnt new techniques.
